"La Sicilia da Ignazio," nestled by the picturesque Passeig Maritim in Roses, Girona, serves as a delightful gateway to authentic Italian cuisine. Patrons rave about the extensive gluten-free options, exemplified by Poppy Long’s review that highlights both gluten-free desserts and a delectable seafood paella. This commitment to inclusivity ensures that all diners, including those with celiac disease, can indulge without worry.
Guests consistently praise the warm, familial vibe created by the owner and staff. Angela Trementozzi captures this sentiment perfectly, likening the experience to a meal cooked by a loving Sicilian family. The restaurant's plate offerings—such as fresh seafood pasta and perfectly executed eggplant Parmesan—showcase the robust and original flavors that define authentic Italian fare. The thin-crust pizzas and homemade cannoli also receive high accolades, underscoring a dedication to traditional recipes.
However, not all reviews are glowing, with Tim Fowler noting a less engaging ambience during off-peak seasons. Nonetheless, the majority express appreciation for the excellent service, with staff going above and beyond to accommodate late arrivals. Overall, "La Sicilia da Ignazio" stands out as a must-visit destination for Italian food lovers seeking quality, authenticity, and warmth in every dish.

Reviews for La Sicilia da Ignazio
Review highlights
Based on 378 reviewsLa Sicilia da Ignazio is recognized for its authentic Sicilian cuisine, with particular praise for fresh seafood dishes and well-prepared traditional options like pasta and thin-crust pizza. The restaurant stands out for its extensive gluten-free menu, offering a variety of pasta, pizza, and even desserts tailored to celiac customers, which enhances its accessibility and appeal. Service is generally described as efficient and friendly, contributing positively to the overall dining experience. While food quality is consistently appreciated, some feedback points to a more average experience regarding ambiance, especially outside the peak season. The seafront location adds charm, although the atmosphere could benefit from improvements to complement the culinary offerings.
Very good italian food. The staff is super efficient. We will go back.
Had a great time here. I am celiac and there was loads of celiac options even deserts. I had a seafood paella and it was absolutely delicious. I loved it and the food was quick. I had a gluten free cheesecake for desert. There is loads of gluten free options all look very nice. My friend is also ceolic and he got a pizza which he finished so quick he loved it. I also went with some non gluten free friends who got normal food and they absolutely loved it. Great options for everyone. The service was great. We had a reservation but we were late so we had to wait but they made sure we got the first available table which we were very thankful for. The staff tried really hard. Very good and 100% recommend
Seafront Italian serving average Italian food. Visited out of season so may be better in summer. Food OK service good, ambience pretty poor, I don't really want to watch Spanish TV while eating.
Choice of 3 different gluten free pastas with any of the sauces. Also any pizza can be made GF apart from calzone. The best thing though was being able to have homemade GF tiramisu
We would give this a 10! Authentic Sicilian style food served with love. We tried several dishes & pizza, from pasta bolognese, pasta with shrimp and zucchini, eggplant Parmesan (done perfectly) pizza. The pasta was seafood were fresh and had so much flavor. The pizza, authentic thin crust, not overly sauced nor too much cheese. Even the olives given as appetizers had an original & robust flavor. The desserts were homemade and cannoli authentic and delicious. The owners were so kind and welcoming. It was like going home to your Sicilian family’s house for dinner. The BEST food and service in Roses!! We’ll be back even though it’s a 3 hour car drive!
Delicious food for a good price. Spaghetti bolognese was full of flavour and one of the few places around serving caprese salad
The owner (nice Italian man) has coeliac disease himself and knows how to prevent cross-contact. We had Pizza, Bread (pan) and Fish Mix fried plate, all was gluten free and absolutely delicious. Perfect location in Roses!
